Rotary Club of Mineral Wells welcomed Lewisville Morning Rotarians and Rotary District 5790 leaders John and Marilyn Pokorny to Wednesday's meeting to talk about the importance of our club's community image and visibility. The Pokornys touched on several ways members can help spread the word of Rotary throughout their social networks to make people in our community more aware of the club and its activities, mission and goals aimed at helping raise interest in membership and participation.
John is a semi-retired engineer with an MBA. He has been a Rotary member since 1987 with four different clubs, serving as club president twice with two clubs. He has served as club webmaster since 2009. He was District 5790 grants coordinator in 2010-2012, district webmaster since 2013, and is currently the district 5790 Training and Technology captain. He was recently named District 5790's Outstanding Rotarian for 2018-2019.
His wife, Marilyn, has been a Rotary member since 2004 in three different clubs, serving as
club secretary as well as several other committee chairs. She served as District 5790 awards chair and as AG Support.
Thanks again to the Pokornys for visiting with the club, for the positive comments and feedback and showing us ways we can make sure everyone in Mineral Wells knows about Rotary Club with the hope they will want to know more.
Rotary Club of Mineral Wells meets every Wednesday at noon at Palo Pinto General Hospital for lunch, networking, updates on club news and events and a program of interest.
