Palo Pinto County Victim Advocacy Coordinator Adina Morris, center, was this week's luncheon speaker, informing the club of her role and responsibilities to aid, inform and comfort victims and family members of crime, especially crimes of violence such as murder, sexual assault and aggravated assault. The State of Texas mandates every district attorney's office have a victim advocacy coordinator and lays out their responsibilities and duties. Many, like Adina, go above and beyond in working with victims and family members throughout the investigative and prosecutorial process.

With seven years of experience, Adina makes sure proper forms are provided, victims and family members are kept apprised of the status of the criminal case and helps make sure victims are reimbursed for any financial losses or costs, such as hospitalization, related to the criminal offense. She works with other crime victim advocates and with ones at the Texas prison level, to provide important and timely information and notices. She can also help local residents involved in crimes that occur outside Palo Pinto County.

She also works with local agencies, law enforcement departments and organizations like the Children's Advocacy Center of Palo Pinto County as part of its multidisciplinary team to arrest and convict persons who abuse and harm children.

She is pictured with club president Jimmy Walker, left, and program chair of the week Keri Dobbs.
