Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Marketing Director Rose Jordan, center, returned to the club Wednesday to update the club on the shift towards marketing Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County as a health and wellness destination. Jordan told club members about the Chamber’s “You’re Well-come” hospitality training program that is helping local businesses train employees on what to know and say to visitors when they ask, “What is there to do around here?”

The Chamber has been working with State Rep. Glenn Rogers’ office to designate Palo Pinto County, “The Wellness Capital of Texas.” That legislation will be introduced when the state’s lawmakers meet in session beginning in January. It is anticipated it will pass.

Jordan said Mineral Wells is becoming a focal point for health and wellness tourism, and that will continue to evolve over the next several years, especially as spas return to the city and businesses cater more to those seeking healthier options and lifestyles.

Jordan also spoke about the new visitors center and gift shop inside chamber’s new digs at the Poston’s Building downtown. Jordan has designed the new gift shop so that merchandise coincide with a story or destination in Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County to entice visitors to go to those places, whether it is Clark Gardens, the Fossil Park, the Vietnam War Museum, Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway or any of our area’s prime attractions and destinations.

Her passion for the city, the county and her job always come through when Jordan gives a presentation. Rotary Club of Mineral Wells appreciates Jordan's efforts to support the area and economic development through tourism.
