Rotary Club of Mineral Wells today presented a $1,000 check to Cindy Maness, executive director of Mineral Wells Center of Life, and Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper and spokesman Ricky Hunter in support of the Child Car Safety Seat Program.

DPS on June 11 staged a child safety seat program at COL that Hunter deemed "a big success." He said 22 child safety seats were checked during the event, and only one child arrived at the event properly secured. Seven seats were provided to parents who did not have a seat or had a seat that needed to be replaced for some reason.

Hunter stressed that 100 percent of the children who attended the event left the event safer than they arrived.

Plans are already in the works for another event to be held later this year.

For more information on how to have your child safety seat inspected, contact Trooper Hunter at 940-325-6903, ext. 4, or the Center of Life at 940-327-8700.

Hunter thanked the following for helping make the event a success: the Center of Life, Chicken Express, Wal-Mart, the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce, First Financial Bank, Community National Bank and Trust, Suddenlink, Pat Bazzell, Rotary Club of Mineral Wells, the Mineral Wells Index, Palo Pinto County Extension Office, Texas Department of Transportation, Kathy Valliere and Ferel Gage.
