Palo Pinto General Hospital's new surgeon and OB/GYN Dr. Rebecca Poole, center, introduced herself to Rotary Club of Mineral Wells members on Wednesday.

She was invited to speak by Rotarian and PPGH Chief Executive Officer Harris Brooks, right. Also pictured is club President David Cairone.

Poole discussed her approach to medicine, health care and women's health including the use of estrogenic hormones.

She was impressed by Rotary International's three-decade effort of global eradication of polio. Poole said her mother is a polio survivor.

Dr. Poole's office is in PPGH's new professional office building at 202 S.W. 25th St., with office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For an appointment call 940-328-7561.

Dr. Poole comes to Mineral Wells from Cameron, Mo., where was she was on staff at Cameron Regional Medical Center since March 2016 practicing general obstetrics and was a gynecology practitioner.

Prior to that she practiced and served as medical director at East Texas Community Health Services in Nacogdoches, Texas, and Affiliates for Women’s Health in College Station, Texas.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree as a Chemistry major, with a Physics minor, in May 2004 from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., where she received a Research Scholar Award from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

She received her Doctorate of Medicine in May 2010 from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., where was named to the Alpha Upsilon Phi Honor Society for Distinguished Leadership in 2010 and was a Dean’s Summer Research Fellow in 2007.

She performed postgraduate OB/GYN training and her internship and residency at Palmetto Health Richland-University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, S.C.

Her specialized interests are contraceptive management, laparoscopy, obesity in women, adolescent and young women’s health, basic infertility and community outreach.

Her professional memberships include the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, North American Menopause Society, American Medical Association, Missouri State Medical Association and Texas Medical Association.
