Pennies for Polio” is a program created to educate and involve local schools in the work that Rotary International and its Polio Eradication partners have undertaken to eradicate polio worldwide.

The Mineral Wells community can play a primary role in helping the Interact Club eradicate polio by donating any spare change during the month of May to help immunize children half way around the world. Each vaccine costs just 60 cents.

The MWHS Interact Club has been given a challenge by Rotary Club of Mineral Wells. The club will match penny for penny what is raised in May. Then, whatever is turned in will be matched 2-1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Won’t you please help us? Polio still exists in the world and until it is fully eradicated, children and adults everywhere are still at risk.

Look for "a "Pennies for Polio" collection container at Ace Hardware, Bank of Mineral Wells, Bennett’s Office Supply, Community National Bank, Golden Chick, Hickey’s Dairy Queen, Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce, Mineral Wells High School office, Mineral Wells Index, Palo Pinto General Hospital, PastaFina, Pulido’s and Titan Bank.

If you would like to have a container delivered by an Interact member to your place of business or want to donate spare change to this fundraiser, contact MWHS Interact sponsor Karyn Bullock at kbullock@mwisd.net.
