Six times a year, hundreds of home and businesses throughout Mineral Wells proudly fly a large U.S. flag, thanks to the local Rotary Club’s flag subscription program.

The club installs and removes flags for those who have subscribed to the service. Not only are participants able to patriotically see and share the sight of Old Glory on their properties, but those proceeds are then used for Rotary’s local scholarships and community service programs.

The flags are placed President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, 9/11 Remembrance Day and Veterans Day. The annual subscription cost is $42 (pro-rated if subscribing later in the year).

The flag and flagpole will be inserted into a sleeve, set below lawnmower height, placed about 12 inches from the curb. Flags are placed the day before and the day after the holiday. Inclement weather might alter the schedule.

Rotary simply asks homes and businesses keep a front light on at night, mainly to help prevent theft but also to help shine a light on the red, white and blue banner.

To sign up for Rotary Club’s flag program, or for more information, contact Dale Brown at 940-325-1585. The online application can be found here.

Thank you in advance for showing your patriotism by subscribing to the Rotary Club of Mineral Wells' flag program.
