Rotary Club of Mineral Wells was fortunate to have District 5790 Governor-Elect Gerald Robinson, from Flower Mound, pictured second from left, visit the club this past Wednesday. Also pictured, from left, are Mineral Wells club President David Cairone, club Foundation Chair Nancy Cameron and President-Elect JJ Dugan.

Robinson touched on several Rotary topics, but especially spoke about the district's June 2019 service project trip to the Central America Republic of Guatemala, hoping to take 150 Rotarians, families and friends to work and fellowship with families, people and fellow Rotarians.

The district is providing grants for new digital X-Ray machines. Pneumonia rates are high there, Robinson said, and the machines will help doctors identify and treat it earlier. Currently, an X-Ray must driven to six hours to a hospital to be read. This will eliminate that.

Grants are also helping provide people there with clean drinking water.

Rotarians will perform construction rehabilitation work. Rotarians will stay at resort hotels in Antigua, and have an opportunity to explore the beautiful country as part of the trip.

Celebrating 100 years of Service Above Self, Rotary Club of Mineral Wells meets every Wednesday at noon at Holiday Hills Country Club.
