Rotary Club of Mineral Wells today welcomed Rotary International District 5790 Governor Christopher J. McLucas to its Wednesday meeting.

Christopher delivered a motivational and inspiring talk and overview of Rotary International and District 5790. The district is the largest geographically in Texas – encompassing 31 counties – and in the number of clubs at 70. District 5790 has 3,133 members, 231 Rotaractors and seven Interact clubs, including one at Mineral Wells High School.

He complimented the Mineral Wells club on many things it is doing in terms of its online and social media presence, its amount of foundation giving, and the local club's various community activities and projects.

Christopher stressed the importance of telling the Rotary story, how its clubs and members in more than 200 countries worldwide work to impact, change and save lives by providing polio immunizations, clean drinking water where there is none, wheelchairs in impoverished countries and the tools and education to farm and grow sustainable crops, among the many other things Rotarians do on a global and local level.

He said every day Rotarians work to live up to the mantra, "People in Action."

Christopher talked about developing strategic plans of action to support and strengthen individual clubs, to keep and heighten focus on humanitarian service and enhance public image and awareness.

The district governor will be back in Mineral Wells next week to attend the local board meeting, followed by the regular weekly meeting. Rotary Club of Mineral Wells meets every Wednesday at noon at Holiday Hills Country Club for lunch, networking, updates on club projects and events and a program of interest. Please join us and consider membership in an organization that strives to make a difference in people's lives around the world and at here at home.
