Cortney Trammell and her nearly 2-year-old son, McCrae, were guests of Rotary Club of Mineral Wells during the club's weekly meeting on Wednesday.

McCrae was 10 days old when he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer after doctors found a large tumor wrapped around his spine. Having undergone surgeries and treatments, McCrae is now closing in on being two years cancer free, which Cortney said will be a medical milestone if that happens. Doctors told the family neuroblastoma typically reappears within two years.

Cortney was already closely involved with the Caleb Larson Memorial Cowboyin' For The Kids foundation and annual fundraising events. Caleb was the son of Brandi Larson, who grew up with Cortney in Graford. They were also roommates at Texas Tech University. Caleb was diagnosed at age 3 with Stage IV neuroblastoma, and passed on just six months later.

The Ninth Annual Caleb Larson Memorial Cowboyin' For The Kids event is Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Young County Arena in Graham. There are many events throughout the day, along with silent and live auctions for which donations are still being accepted. New this year is a petting, that will feature some interesting animals like a kangaroo and an otter, along with an array of other animals for the kids to pet and enjoy. Proceeds go to help fight all childhood cancers, and help the families of children diagnosed with cancer.
