Community Christian School's One-ActPlay cast and crew performed several scenes from its state-winning one-act play "The Diviners."

Under the direction of Administrator Doug Jefferson, CCS won its sixth consecutive Texas Christian Athletic/Artistic Fellowship one-act play championship. The state competition was once again hosted by CCS at the Mineral Wells campus of Weatherford College theater.
“The Diviners” is a play by Jim Leonard Jr. set in the Great Depression Era of the 1930s in a small, fictional Indiana town.

CCS' performance won the district title in early April, and at the state contest practically swept the awards and honors. Jefferson said it was the first time CCS received both the best actor and best actress awards. The state honors for CCS were:

• Best Ensemble.

• Best Lighting.

• Best Sound.

• Best Actor – Luke Knowles.

• Best Actress – Destiny Hopper.

• 1st All State Cast – Ryan Richards and Faith Schoop

• 2nd All State Cast – Thomas Brazeal and Savanah Martinez.

• Honorable Mention – Cassie Cooper.

CCS gave a free public performance Tuesday, asking those attending make a donation to Mission Mineral Wells to help with the costs of the planned summer homes rehabilitation project. After its performance Wednesday for Rotary Club, CCS presented Rose and Brandon Jordan of Mission Mineral Wells a check for $780 that will go toward this summer's planned rehabilitation of four homes in the Project 365 zone in southeast Mineral Wells.
