Jimmy Walker, Chair

A foundation for peace is built on many small efforts to advance understanding and goodwill among people of different nations and to improve the quality of life.  The Fourth Avenue of Service works to mobilize the resources of club members and others in the community to participate in World Community Service Projects.  This includes welcoming youth and young adult professionals from other countries and sponsoring local youth traveling abroad.

An example of recent projects of this committee include hosting the Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Chile in May 2008 and sending two local high school students to an International Youth Seminar in Whitewater, Wisc.

There have two members of our club belong to the International Fellowship of Skiing Rotarians and have participated in ski weeks in the US and Canada.

1997-98 - Our club worked with San Francisco West Rotary Club to arrange repairing and shipping equipment from the California Shriner's Hospital to the Jalalabad Rotary Disabled Rehabilitation Centre and Hospital, in conjunction to the support and assistance we gave them in establishing the center.

2009-2010 - Our club members collected boxes of obsolete school books from the public schools in Mineral Wells. These boxes will be palletized and sent to South Africa. They will then be distributed by the Rotarians to the areas where there are no books.
