Rotary Scholarship Selection Committee

We look forward to the time of year when we gather up to be among the groups able to give scholarships and aid to help graduates advance in their educational endeavors, career pursuits to further guide them to success, serve their communities and fellow humans and, like us, put "Service Above Self."

Every year our club gives out the following scholarships to local high school seniors:

1. Willie Casper Memorial Scholarship - Willie Casper was a former Mayor of our awesome city and a former Rotarian. This scholarship is weighted heavily toward community service.

2. Jimmy Ashby Memorial Scholarship- Jimmy Ashby was a former District Attorney, and a former Rotarian. This scholarship requires the applicant to be choosing some type of law enforcement as their intended major.

3. William Zachary Elder Memorial Scholarship - son of Scott and Carol Elder, both Texas A&M Graduates, Zach was an engineering major at Texas A&M University when he passed away due to a car accident. This scholarship requires the applicant to be choosing some type of career in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.

4. Mineral Wells Rotary Club Scholarship - a general scholarship focusing on academics, community service, and participation in school activities.

This project is simple. We will coordinate a group of Rotarians to help review and score the scholarships based on a scoring rubrick. Scoring sheets are very easy to understand. Pencils, highlighters, scoring sheets and applications will be provided.
